Increasing demands on planning and construction raise the question of how to return to simpler and more effective processes and affordable outcomes. Drawing from our experiences with three very different projects—a participatory revitalization of a town center, a housing development, and a renovation of existing structures—we discuss how architects can act as translators in a highly challenging field.
